TripDeck Support

General Info

  • Current Version: 1.5.8 (released: 08/25/2011)
  • TripDeck is available for download or update on the iPhone App Store.
  • To check your version of TripDeck:
    1. From the trip-leg list or the trip-deck list, click (i) in the lower right corner
    2. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen

Known Issues

  • iOS 5: TripDeck is not yet optimized for iOS 5.
  • Crashing: TripDeck crashes when a TripIt cruise is missing dates and/or times for ports of call. To fix this issue, please log on to your TripIt.com account and ensure that departure and arrival dates and times are listed for each port of call.
  • Incomplete flight results: By Route searches for flights departing 3+ days in the future may produce an incomplete list of available flights. Include the airline in order to view all available flights on a particular route by a particular airline.

Add-Ons

  • If you started with the Free version and purchased each add-on individually: even though the app is saying you do not have those add-ons enabled, simply go through the purchase process again.  You should not be billed again.
  • If you originally purchased the Paid, full-version: please email us at support-tripdeck@mobiata.com
  • Paid add-ons from other apps can't be transferred to TripDeck

How do TripDeck and FlightTrack Pro differ?

  • TripDeck covers all types of travel: flights (with push notifications), rental cars, hotels, trains, etc. Each item in your itinerary is displayed as a “Trip Card” that can be edited while on the go.
  • FlightTrack Pro is aimed at customers who are looking at advanced flight tracking and it is much more fully featured than TripDeck in regards to flight tracking offering seat guru, terminal maps, real-time weather, delay forecasts, flight length times, layover times, tail tracking, repeating flight support, etc. FlightTrack is also optimized to work in iPad (without any extra charge) and as of our newest release, has a flight board add-on which shows flights/allows searching by airport.
  • The three add-ons in TripDeck provide the same basic functionality of FlightTrack but none of the extra features mentioned above. TripDeck is targeted to customers who primarily want an overall event/trip itinerary manager.
  • Both TripDeck and FlightTrack Pro can sync with TripIt.

Flight Status

  • Missing gate/terminal info: Gate and terminal assignments are often not provided until about 60 min. before departure. Unfortunately, some airlines (particularly non-US carriers) do not release such information to the flight-tracking industry.
  • No updated flight status: Some airlines (particularly non-U.S. carriers) do not release gate and flight information to the flight-tracking industry. Because of this, we do not get updates except for the initial, scheduled flight info such as departure and landing times. This means we do not get real-time updates such as if there are delays.
  • Can't find flight: TripDeck’s flight search uses schedule information received from the airlines. For some flights, especially international ones, we don't receive schedules until 1 month before the flight.

TripIt Syncing

  1. Visit TripIt (mobile site or full site), open a free account, and add flights. Or forward confirmation email:
    - Send to plans@tripit.com, from your preferred email address (not a booking site), so the From field will bear that address. Or email flight info to plans@tripit.com from FlightTrack itself.
    - Wait a minute for an email response from TripIt. Click on the link in the email to start a free account. For help submitting plans, visit TripIt’s help page.
  2. In TripDeck: Tap i at the lower right and tap Log In. TripDeck will display all future flights in all the trips in your TripIt account.

Note:

  • Although our app integrates with TripIt, Mobiata and TripIt are separate companies. This means that we are unable to answer many questions related to TripIt.com. To obtain help with TripIt.com issues, try checking out TripIt’s help page.
  • TripDeck can display future flights listed in a TripIt account. Paid TripIt Pro is not required.
  • Two-Way Sync: Syncing is only one-way at this time. We can obtain trip data from TripIt, but we cannot send data to TripIt.
  • All future trips (personal and shared) are automatically synced. You can “unlink” a trip from TripIt to add and edit information on the go.
  • Auto-delete: Occurs after 24 hours because TripIt does not send info for completed trips. (However, to ensure that you don’t miss late-arriving data, a flight imported from TripIt stays in FlightTrack Pro for 24 hours after landing, whether or not it appears in your TripIt account.)
  • Duplicate TripIt flight: To delete, visit TripIt.com, view a flight, click Options, and then click  Delete.

TripIt sync—troubleshooting

To fix almost any trouble regarding syncing:

  1. Fully restart your device: Hold the top button until the red slider appears, to power off. Then, press the same button again until the Apple logo appears.
  2. Update your app, so you have the most recent version of TripDeck:
    - On a computer: In iTunes, click Apps (far left) and Check for Updates (bottom right). Then, sync to your device(s).
    - On a mobile device: On the App Store, tap Updates (bottom right).
  3. Turn syncing off temporarily:
    - Visit TripIt’s app list and if you see FlightTrack Pro listed with the word Remove at the far right, click the word Remove. (This stops syncing until it is reestablished.)
    - Or, on your mobile device, visit TripIt’s mobile site and (if you are logged in) tap Logout at the bottom left.
  4. Turn syncing on: In TripDeck, tap i at the lower right. Tap Log Out if you see that. Then, tap Log In. (iPad: The i is visible when viewing the list of flights.)
  5. Rarely, you may need to delete and reinstall (but this will remove any flights that you have manually added): At your device’s home screen, touch and hold the app icon for a moment, release your finger, and tap the x. Then, re-download for free.

Also check:

  • Do you have future flights? Check your TripIt account (mobile site or full site).
  • Enable cookies: At your home screen, tap Settings, then Safari, Accept Cookie, From Visited.
  • Turn Safari restrictions off: At your home screen, tap Settings, then General, then Restrictions.
  • Multi-leg flights: Might not appear, because TripIt sometimes lists these as one flight. At TripIt.com: View your flight, click Options and choose Delete. Then click “Add plans” and add each leg of the flight.

If your flight “could not be recognized”:

  • Usually means a detail is incorrect or missing.
    - Try Search by Route but with no airline, because an airline may change flight number or switch to an “affiliate” carrier.
    - Check TripIt.com: Verify the airline code, airport code, flight number, and date. To make changes: View your flight, click Options and choose Edit.
  • May mean that data is not available. For example:
    - Low-budget airlines (e.g., Allegiant Air, Ryanair, easyJet) often supply no data, so the flight may not be listed in our app until near departure time (at which point some data is usually available from other sources).
    - Charter flights (e.g., Thomas Cook, Monarch, Condor) generally produce no data.
