Known issues
We are working to fix these known issues:
- A By Route flight search may produce an incomplete list of available flights. Include the airline in order to see all available flights on a particular route by a particular airline.
- iCloud Syncing is a beta feature in FlightTrack. It works for nearly all users, but not for every user. We are working on an update so this feature will work for all users.
- Distance calculation (completed-remaining) may not be accurate when a flight between North America and Europe or Asia nears arrival (but this does not affect the accuracy of other flight info).
- My Travel Details added to flights synced from TripIt to FlightTrack Pro are deleted the next time the app syncs to TripIt.

- In FlightTrack: Tap i at the bottom, tap Sync at bottom, and adjust settings under Calendar. Be sure to choose which calendar to use.
- Calendar app: Flights not appearing in Calendar? In the Calendar app on your mobile device, tap Calendars at upper left and make sure that a check mark appears next to the calendar that you selected in step 2 above. (Known issue: Events may not be listed or may be listed twice on Exchange calendars.)

FlightBoard
Purchase as a separate app (recommended):
Purchase in-app:
- View the flight list, tap the + button at upper right, and then tap By Airport. (Requires operating system iOS 3.2 or later. “By Airport” will not be visible on systems earlier than iOS 3.2.)
- Use the same Apple ID that you used to purchase the app in which you are doing the in-app purchase.
Re-download for free, in-app (on the same app, on each of your devices):
- View the flight list, tap the + button at upper right, and then tap By Airport. (Requires operating system iOS 3.2 or later. “By Airport” will not be visible on systems earlier than iOS 3.2.)
- Tap Purchase and you’ll see “Confirm Your In-App Purchase / Do you want to buy…”
- Tap Buy and use the same Apple ID as you did the first time you did the in-app purchase.
- You’ll see “You’ve already purchased this…” Tap OK.
FlightBoard details:
- Abbreviations: Will expand if you press and hold your finger (e.g., on DL, LGA, etc.)
- Flight status: Departure and arrival times are displayed with colors that indicate the flight status. In landscape orientation, the full status names are spelled out:
- Green - scheduled, en route, or landed
- Blue - arrived at gate
- Orange - late or delayed
- Red - diverted, redirected, or cancelled
- Gates and terminals: Are often not provided by the airline or airport until about 60 min. before departure. Some airlines (particularly non-US carriers) don’t release such information to the flight-tracking industry. When the gate is missing but the terminal is known, it is marked by a T.
- Integrate with FlightTrack:
- In FlightTrack or FlightTrack Pro: To view an airport in FlightBoard, view the flight list, tap the + button at upper right, and then tap By Airport. Or view flight details, tap the > button to the right of an airport, and then tap FlightBoard.
- In FlightBoard: To view a flight in FlightTrack or FlightTrack Pro, view flights for an airport, tap a flight, and then tap the little curved arrow.
- Refresh: Data is automatically refreshed every 5 minutes. To change: Tap i at bottom right, tap Settings at bottom, and then tap Refresh Flights.
- Sort by column: Tap a column header.
- Time span: Displays flights starting 2 hours before the current time. Details:
- Small airports: -2 hours to +22 hours.
- Medium-sized airports: -2 hours to +10 hours.
- Large airports: -2 hours to +4 hours.
- Time zone shown: Is the local time of the airport you are viewing. To change to User’s Local Time or to GMT: Tap i at bottom right, tap Settings at bottom, and then tap Time Zone.

Flight data (times, gates, etc.)
Our flight data comes from the airline, FAA, and departure/arrival airports. If you see delayed, missing, or inaccurate data in our app please email us (we’ll reply soon!) and provide:
1. Airline & flight number.
2. Departure date & airport.
3. Details regarding the error.
Reasons for data problems:
- An airline may provide info on its own web site but not to the flight-tracking industry.
- Some airlines (e.g., Etihad, Gol, TAM, Malaysia, and low-budget airlines like Allegiant Air and easyJet) provide no data at all, and so we may not list a flight until near departure time, at which point some data may be available from other sources.
- Southwest Airlines provides no times for actual gate departure or gate arrival.
- Gate and terminal assignments are often not provided by the airline or airport until about 60 min. before departure. Some airlines (particularly non-US carriers) don’t release such information to the flight-tracking industry.
- The FAA delays release of live flight data by 5 minutes (for reasons dealing with security).
- Charter flights (e.g., Thomas Cook, Monarch, Condor, Air Transat) generally produce no data.
Our apps track nonstop flights. If your flight is not listed:
- Try Search by Route but with no airline, because an airline may change flight number or switch to an “affiliate” carrier.
- Check the airline web site, because perhaps the airline doesn’t fly on the day you need.
- A flight months in the future might not yet be in the database of our data provider. (The database is updated several times per week.)
Details for a future flight:
- If times (but no other details) are slightly off for a future flight, it usually means the airline has not yet provided new information to our data provider. They nearly always do so within about a week.

iCloud
iCloud Syncing (requires iOS 5) is a beta feature in FlightTrack. It works for nearly all users, but not for every user. We are now working on an update, so that iCloud + FlightTrack will work for all users.
To enable iCloud, do this on each of your mobile devices:
- Be sure that iCloud is activitated (with the same Apple ID): At your home screen, tap the Settings app and then iCloud. Set “Documents & Data” (includes app data) to On.
- Be sure that you have only FlightTrack or only FlightTrack Pro on your devices, but not both. To delete one: At your device’s home screen, touch and hold the FlightTrack or FlightTrack Pro icon for a moment, release your finger, and tap the x. (An app can be re-downloaded for free.)
- In FlightTrack or FlightTrack Pro: Tap i at the bottom, tap Sync at bottom, and then set Sync with iCloud to On. (iCloud will sync flights and settings on each of your devices on all copies of FlightTrack or on all copies of FlightTrack Pro, but not a mix of FlightTrack and FlightTrack Pro.)

Maps
- Maps are zoomable: Put two fingers on the screen and drag them toward or away from each other. Or tap twice to zoom in.
- New in 4.3: Airport Delay Map on iPad. For many airports, delays are indicated by a color-coded bubble:
- Green - very few or few delays
- Yellow - moderate delays
- Red - significant delays
- Large, glowing red - excessive delays
- Maps are not scrollable through the Pacific Ocean (a limitation of Google maps in apps).
- The plane icon appears on the map after finding a flight and tapping Save.
- The plane icon begins to move on the map after the app receives data (from the airline, FAA, or airport) indicating runway departure.

Solution for many problems
The first three steps below will often fix odd behavior in our app (or any app!).
- Restart your device (a great idea every few weeks!):
- Hold the Sleep/Wake button (on the edge of the device) until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider.
- Next, press the Sleep/Wake button again until the Apple logo appears.
- Update your app (it’s free!):
- On a computer: On iTunes, click Apps (far left) and Check for Updates (bottom right). Then, sync to your device(s).
- Or on a mobile device: On the App Store, tap Updates (bottom right).
- You may need to delete and re-install (but this will remove flights you have added manually):
- At your device’s home screen, touch and hold the FlightTrack or FlightTrack Pro icon for a moment, release your finger, and tap the x.
- Then, re-download for free. See Re-download for free on this page.
- “Restore” your device (but only if all else fails and if you are having trouble with several apps):
Note that many features of FlightTrack and FlightTrack Pro will work erratically (if at all) on altered/jailbroken devices.

TripIt sync
FlightTrack Pro can display future flights listed in a TripIt account.
Step 1.
- Create a free TripIt account and add flights, at TripIt’s mobile site or full site.
- Or forward confirmation email:
- Send to plans@tripit.com, from your preferred email address, so the From field will bear that address. (Or email flight info to plans@tripit.com from FlightTrack itself.)
- Wait a minute for an email response from TripIt.
Step 2.
- In FlightTrack Pro, turn TripIt sync on:
- Tap i at the bottom and then tap Sync at bottom.
- Turn TripIt Sync on, and you’ll be taken to a login screen, in Safari.
- Tap the box next to “Grant FlightTrack Pro access to my TripIt data” and then tap the Grant button. FlightTrack Pro will display all future flights in all the trips in your TripIt account.
Known issue: TripIt Sync will not function when using Apple operating system iOS 4.2.1 or earlier. (TripIt Sync can be set to On but it changes to Off.)
- To check your device’s operating system: At your device’s home screen, tap the Settings app, then General, then About (check Version). If you have Apple iOS 4.2.1 or earlier you may wish to update your operating system:
- Connect your mobile device to a computer, and launch iTunes.
- Under DEVICES (far left), click the name of your device.
- Under Version, click Check for Update. Note: On older devices (e.g., iPhone 3G), no update is available, because 4.2.1 is the newest operating system available. We are working to make our app work on iOS 4.2.1.

TripIt sync troubleshooting
For help submitting plans to TripIt, visit TripIt’s help page.
The steps below fix almost any trouble regarding syncing FlightTrack Pro to a TripIt account. But step 4 is often all that is needed.
- Restart your device: Hold the Sleep/Wake button (on the edge of the device) until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Next, press the Sleep/Wake button again until the Apple logo appears.
- Update your app, so you have the most recent version of FlightTrack Pro:
- On a computer: On iTunes, click Apps (far left) and Check for Updates (bottom right). Then, sync to your device(s).
- On a mobile device: On the App Store, tap Updates (bottom right).
- Turn syncing off temporarily: Visit TripIt’s “Applications” page. If FlightTrack Pro is listed as having access, click or tap “Remove” at the far right.
- In FlightTrack Pro, turn TripIt sync on:
- Tap i at the bottom and then tap Sync at bottom.
- Turn TripIt Sync on, and you’ll be taken to a login screen, in Safari. (But if TripIt Sync is already on, turn it off and then back on.)
- Tap the box next to ”Grant FlightTrack Pro access to my TripIt data” and then tap the Grant button. FlightTrack Pro will display all future flights in all the trips in your TripIt account.
If your flight does not appear in FlightTrack Pro or “could not be recognized”:
- It usually means that a detail is incorrect or missing.
- Log on to your TripIt.com account.
- Verify the airline code, airport code, flight number, and date.
- To make changes: View your flight, click Options, and choose Edit.
- Or it may mean that the airline has changed the flight number or has switched to an “affiliate” carrier.
- Check details at your airline’s web site.
- More rarely, it means that data is not available. For example:
- Low-budget airlines (e.g., Allegiant Air, easyJet) often supply no data, so the flight may not be listed in our app until near departure time (at which point some data is usually available from other sources).
- Charter flights (e.g., Thomas Cook, Monarch, Condor, Air Transat) generally produce no data.
Also:
- The clock on your device must be set to the correct local time.
- Safari is required: Be sure Safari restrictions are off. (At your home screen, tap the Settings app, then General, then Restrictions.)
- FlightTrack Pro lists future TripIt flights: Check your TripIt account (mobile site or full site) to be sure that you have future flights.
- Time Zone Support should be on: At your device’s home screen, tap the Settings app. Then tap “Mail, Contacts, Calendars,” scroll down, and tap Time Zone Support.
- Many features of FlightTrack and FlightTrack Pro will work erratically (if at all) on altered/jailbroken devices.

Upgrade to FlightTrack Pro
- To upgrade:
- From the FlightTrack flight list, tap i at the bottom, tap the green Details button, tap Upgrade, and then use the same Apple ID you used to purchase the app.
- Note: The app icon will not change (due to a limitation of the operating system of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch), but your app is otherwise 100% FlightTrack Pro.
- To re-upgrade for free: If you reinstall FlightTrack (on the same or different device), redo the in-app upgrade for free. (Don’t purchase FlightTrack Pro itself or you will be charged! But if you do, Apple can provide a refund, here.)
- From the FlightTrack flight list, tap i at the bottom, tap the green Details button, and then tap Upgrade.
- You’ll see “Confirm Your In-App Purchase / Do you want to buy…” Tap Buy.
- Enter the same Apple ID you used the first time. You’ll see “You’ve already purchased this…” Tap OK.
